The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fundamentals microcredential provides a clear, practical understanding of what AI can do - and how to use it in thoughtful, ethical, and responsible ways.

In just 45 hours, you’ll move from AI curiosity to building AI-enhanced workflows that support real-world tasks and everyday work.

What You'll Learn

  • AI basics - Explore how modern AI tools and language models work and where they are used.
  • Prompt writing skills - Write clear, effective prompts and refine them to improve results.
  • AI workflows - Build simple, multi鈥憇tep workflows with human review to support accuracy.
  • AI safety and responsible use - Use AI appropriately with private and sensitive information.
  • Critical thinking with AI - Recognize limitations such as bias, privacy concerns, and errors.
  • Practical application - Apply AI to writing, research, planning, idea generation, and problem鈥憇olving.

Program Structure

  • September 8 to October 22, 2026
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays | 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • 45 hours over 7 weeks (including independent study)
  • Online + virtual learning sessions

Certification

Upon successful completion, you’ll earn the AI Fundamentals microcredential and a digital badge—a clear demonstration of your foundational AI knowledge and responsible use of AI tools. Share your badge on your résumé, LinkedIn, or other digital platforms to highlight your AI skills.


Admission Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Adult High School Diploma, GED Diploma of High School Equivalency, Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) or Essential Skills Achievement Pathway: Post-Secondary Entry High School Diploma
  • Resident of New Brunswick

Technology Requirements

  • Basic proficiency in using computers and common digital technologies
  • Access to a reliable computer and a stable, high-speed internet connection

Registration Deadline: August 21, 2026

This program is designed for motivated learners who are ready to fully engage and successfully complete all requirements of the AI Fundamentals microcredential. 

With limited, funded seats available, priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and a clear plan to apply AI in their work or daily life. As part of the application process, simply share your professional background, your interest in the program, and how you intend to use AI skills moving forward.
